Partners for Peace Condemns Attack on Minibus Driver,Call for Justice

  Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P) in Cross River State has strongly condemned the recent assault on a minibus driver by individuals alleged to be working under the Calabar Municipal Council. The peacebuilding network has called on both state and local government authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack. In a statement issued by the State Coordinator, Mr. Ukorebi Esien, P4P described the act as outdated and harmful to the state’s reputation as a peaceful and tourism-friendly destination. “This kind of barbaric and ancient act has no place in our society. It tarnishes Cross River’s image and discourages visitors from coming to our state,” Esien stated. Senator Representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly is set to commission 9 (Nine) new projects to improve the lives of residents in Cross River Central Senatorial District.  The Senator has constructed and completed solar-powered water boreholes, which will provide much-needed access to clean water to rural communities in the area.  For years, residents of the benefiting communities have struggled with water scarcity, a problem now significantly alleviated by Senator William's initiative. We Must Prioritise, Transparency, Accountability in Our Operations - Comptroller Olomu

  The Customs Area Controller (CAC), in charge of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller babatunde Olomu has charged newly promoted Deputy Comptrollers (DC's) and Assistant Comptrollers (AC's) to prioritise transparency and accountability in their duties. The CAC made the remark at the command, during a training workshop with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commision (ICPC) on Thursday, 13 February 2025. He reminded the officers of the importance of their various offices in achieving the objectives of the command and the Service. Catholic bishop holds mass wedding for 21 couples in Niger

  The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has conducted a mass wedding for 21 couples in Niger State. While joining the couples in holy matrimony at St. Mark Catholic Church in Nsanji Nkoso, Magama Local Council of Niger State over the weekend, Bishop Yohanna stated that until a couple is joined together in marriage both legally and traditionally (dowry or bride price) and blessed in the church, it is wrong to cohabit. Most Rev. Dauwa explained that most people had relied more on traditional marriage, which encouraged them to cohabit, adding that they needed to be sure that none of them was under compulsion. The clergy added, “We have to encourage them to do what is right, especially as Catholics. Miss Universe Nigeria, Adetshina’s mother arrested in South Africa

  South African authorities have arrested Anabela Rungo, the mother of Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, over allegations of fraudulently obtaining a South African identity document. The Department of Home Affairs confirmed that Rungo, a Mozambican national, was apprehended at a hideout in Cape Town on Saturday in a joint operation by Home Affairs investigators and the South African Police Service reports local news platform, Sunday World. Department spokesperson Siya Qoza was reported to have stated that Rungo had been declared persona non grata in September 2024 after officials uncovered irregularities in her residency status. "Investigators from the department, assisted by SAPS, detained Anabela Rungo at a property in Cape Town. The Department withdrew Rungo’s South African documentation in September 2024 after finding that it had been fraudulently obtained, rendering her ineligible to continue residing in South Africa,” Qoza said.
