Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P) in Cross River State has strongly condemned the recent assault on a minibus driver by individuals alleged to be working under the Calabar Municipal Council. The peacebuilding network has called on both state and local government authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack. In a statement issued by the State Coordinator, Mr. Ukorebi Esien, P4P described the act as outdated and harmful to the state’s reputation as a peaceful and tourism-friendly destination. “This kind of barbaric and ancient act has no place in our society. It tarnishes Cross River’s image and discourages visitors from coming to our state,” Esien stated.
