Governor Otu Assents to Amended Cross River Electoral Law, Establishes Four-Year Tenure for Elected LG Officials

Governor Bassey Otu has granted assent to the amended Cross River Electoral Law passed by the State House of Assembly. The amendment by House of Assembly was necessitated by the Supreme Court's verdict granting autonomy to local government as well as ensuring that states of the federation to ensure local administrations are headed by elected officials in accordance with the constitution.   In a significant effort to advance the Bakassi Deep Seaport project in Cross River State, essential stakeholders have formally endorsed their commitment to supporting and overseeing the realization of the project. MOUN Inaugurates Comrade Echip Enang, as State Chairman Alongside 14 Executives in Cross River

  Jesam Ofem (Trinity) The Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) today September 19, 2024, officially inaugurated Comrade Echip Enang as the new State Chairman of its Cross River branch, alongside 14 other newly elected executives at the Imoke Hall of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Secretariat, Calabar, Cross River State.  The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the National President of MOUN, Comrade Julius Oghenevwegba Bobi, who delivered a rousing charge to the new leadership. Olukoyede Seeks Enhanced Ethics in Accounting Profession

  The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has charged accountants across the country to show greater regard for the ethics of their profession and observance of the country’s financial regulations. Licenced Miners Seek EFCC's Intervention against Illegal Miners in Port Harcourt

  Licenced miners in Rivers State under the aegis of Miners Association of Nigeria, Port Harcourt Branch have called for the intervention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to curb the nefarious activities of their illegal counterparts and alleged extortion by officials of the state government. The Asociation made the call when its Chairman, His Royal Highness, Hope Daminabo Dan Opusingi led his members on a courtesy visit to the Acting Director, Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Adebayo Adeniyi. EFCC Arrests 48 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Umudike

  Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, have arrested forty-eight (48) suspected internet fraudsters in Umudike, Abia State. They were arrested on Friday,  August 30, 2024 at different locations within Umudike,  following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud. Items recovered from them include 12 exotic cars,  15 different brands of laptops and 68  expensive smartphones. They would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded. Former Edo Assembly Deputy Speaker Dumps PDP

The PDP suffered a fatal blow in Owan this week as a political heavyweight who is a three-time member and former Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Omon Ezomon, dumped the party.
