Cooperation with contractors is essential for successful project execution--Rt. Hon. Orok Duke

For successful project execution, community members must cooperate with contractors, stated Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, the Cross River representative in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The NDDC Commissioner made this appeal over the weekend during a meeting with leaders, women, and youths of the Eto Mkpe Yellow Duke community in Akpabuyo local government area. Duke, who was in the community to inspect the installation of solar lights, urged residents to allow contractors to complete their work, emphasizing that it serves the best interests of the community. He acknowledged that the current lights are insufficient but assured that efforts are underway to provide more. Orok Duke Vows to Revive Abandoned Projects to Boost Local Economy and Reduce Unemployment

Cross River's representative on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, has pledged to address all abandoned projects in the state. During a Friday inspection of the abandoned skill acquisition center in Akpabuyo local government area, Duke emphasized the project's importance to both Akpabuyo and Cross River. He noted that completing such a significant project would greatly benefit the local economy and help reduce youth unemployment and related unrest. Duke assured that he would advocate for the completion of all abandoned projects in Cross River before the NDDC, expressing confidence that these projects would be reviewed and completed. Since taking office, Duke has shown strong commitment to resolving issues impacting Cross River communities, in line with the NDDC's mandate as an intervention agency. He has consistently stated that his role at the NDDC is to support the Cross River State government's development efforts.

Foundation Sensitises C'River Students On Child Rights

  In commemoration of the 2024 Children's Day, a non-governmental organization, Feed a Hungry Child With Brianna Foundation, conducted a sensitization campaign in some schools in Cross River State to raise awareness about child rights and social justice.  The child rights sensitisation exercise tagged "Know Your Rights" was approved by the management of two schools in Calabar approached by the foundation.  On Wednesday, 29 May, the first edition was held at the Lourdes Academy, Calabar while today, Friday 31st, 2024, the foundation staged the event in the Holychild College, Maryslesssor, Calabar.  During the visits  by the Foundation, educative interactions and teachings on child rights, how to enforce the rights and demand social justice in the society were delivered to the students.
