Distinguished Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Education Support Initiative announces the commencement of its 2024 Edition of Education Support assistance for undergraduate, and postgraduate students of Cross River South at Federal Universities, State University, College of Education, College of Health Technology, and School of Nursing. UNICAL awards scholarship to 34 undergraduates with over 4.0 CGPA

The University of Calabar has awarded scholarship grants to 34 high flying students in the institution in its maiden Vice Chancellor Scholarship Award Scheme. This was disclosed by Prof. Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor of UniCal during the presentation of award to deserving students of the institution in the institution's Senate Chamber. Obi said the scholarship was a response of her investiture speech on Dec. 1 2020, where she noted in her manifesto to reposition the university in line with global best practices to a foremost ivory tower. World-Class Institute Begins Needs Assessment Training for Head Teachers, Assistant Head Teachers

The Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI) Biase in Cross River State, has commenced a statewide needs assessment of professional teachers across the State. The purpose of the exercise involving schools in the eighteen Local Government Areas is to get inputs from three hundred participants on their current and future needs as the participants are mostly from primary and secondary schools, vocational and technical colleges as well as Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in integrated settings. Chistian faithful lauds cleric for showing love to his congregation admist economic downturn in the country

Christian faithful in Cross River State has lauded a Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Bekomson for his unending show of love to his Congregation admist the economic downturn widely felt in the country. Most recent among such show of love, was when the priest beckoned on members of his congregation who can afford one thousand naira to come and put it in the offertory box. When they did, he invited those who were in need to step forward and take the money. It was gathered that huge number of people from the congregation rushed out for the money.  According to Magdalene (surname withheld) who spoke to our correspondent, "it was such a very emotional moment.
