13 BRIGADE PLEDGES SUPPORT TO CRSFC FOR EFFECTIVE FOREST CONSERVATION

  By Blessing Enagu  The Commander, 13 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Peter Malla has assured of the Army’s support to the Cross River State Forestry Commission in achieving the mandate of conserving the rich forests resources of the State. Brigadier General Malla gave the assurance recently in his command when he received in audience the Management of the Cross River State Forestry Commission. The  Brigade Commander stated that for security to be maintained, there was need for partnership among critical stakeholders, while suing for a mutual relationship with the Commission in other areas of collaboration. UNICAL students to get refund for CBT, EDC other charges .....I won't sustain unwholesome practices, says VC

  The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has restated the resolve of her administration not to sustain unwholesome practices in the institution. The Vice Chancellor made the assertion in a brief interactive session with the leadership of the Students Union Government (SUG) when responding to some issues which has dominated the public space that required urgent attention and response on the part of management. In the meeting which was a follow up on the one held earlier on Wednesday, 7th July, 2021, Prof. Obi said the time has come for the students to sincerely and assiduously work with management to improve the welfare of Nigerian students with a view to develop the university. HAVE AN OPEN DOOR POLICY, SUBEB BOSS CHARGES UBEC SCHOOL PRINCIPALS

By Uchino Amatey The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr Victor Odo has charged principals of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Secondary Schools to have an open door and inclusive policy to ensure a smoother relationship between staff and also the communities where the schools are located. The SUBEB boss gave the admonition during a recent visit to the UBEC Schools in Abi and Yala Local Government Areas as part of his familiarization tour. Mr Odo said “a healthy relationship between the schools and host communities will continue to foster a conducive working and learning environment for both staff and students.” The Board Chairman called on parents and guardians to take advantage of the quality of education offered at the three UBEC Schools in Akpabuyo, Abi and Yala LGAs by sending their children and wards. UNICAL inducts 90 graduates into Nursing Council of Nigeria

The University of Calabar has inducted 90 graduates of Nursing Science into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new nurses where inducted by the Registrar of the Council, Dr Farouk Abubakar, at the university's International Conference Centre on Monday in Calabar. Abubakar advised them to uphold the standard of the profession by discharging their duties in line with the oath they took. He said that the nursing profession requires utmost dedication and commitment to duty, hence they should prioritise the profession of nursing. Speaking, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Florence Obi, who congratulated the graduates for the feat, charged them to go into the field and make exploits. Nursing Council commends UNICAL for producing quality nurses, midwives

    The Registrar of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr Farouk Abubakar, has commended the University of Calabar for producing quality nurses that have contributed greatly to the growth of the country's health sector. Abubakar made the commendation on Monday in Calabar when he paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Florence Obi in her office, on the occasion of the 7th induction and oath taking of nursing science graduates of UNICAL.   The two kidnapped Law students of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have regained freedom from their abductors. The students, Ikpi Okoi-Itam and Vincent Adomi-Okorafor who were kidnapped on July 1 on campus were released on Sunday in the creeks of Calabar South. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Florence Obi, said that their release had brought much relief to the university community.
