Rovers FC draw Abia Comets in pre-season friendly

  By Kelvin Obambon Ahead of it opening match in the Nigeria National League season, Rovers Football Club, Calabar, on Tuesday, held fellow second-tier side, Abia Comets to a 1-1 draw in a friendly encounter at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar. First half of the game started off on a promising note due to one or two early chances created by Rovers. These chances, however, were not converted into goals, as the first half ended goalless. 49th minute into second half, Abia Comets had their goal through Kayode Agboola, who capitalized on a minor defect in Rovers' backline. The visitors' joy was short-lived as a leveller came the way of Rovers in the 50th minute after Cosmos Eberemu completed a series of passes that menaced the opponent's defense. The remaining minutes of the second half saw both teams struggling to have the upper hand. UNICAL VC Eulogized for Drawing Varsity Students to God

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of the University of Calabar  (UNICAL), Prof Michael P. Okom has lauded the institution's Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi, for assiduously drawing both the management staff and  students to God as the citadel of learning commences academic activities after the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19. Cross River State Government Rescues Mentally Challenged Mother And Baby, Offer Medical And Welfare Assistance for Upkeep

  The Cross River State Government has rescued a mentally challenged woman and her baby on the street of Calabar  with provision of medical, material, welfare and psychological assistance to aide the baby and mother's survival. The victim, a middle aged woman who gave her name as "Cassy baby " and a native of Benue state was said to have helped herself through  pains in the delivery of the baby before the arrival of some good Samaritan for assistance. The rescue operation which was led by the Director General, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong and her team was also made up of staff of Ministry of Health, Ministry of humanitarian and social services and the Calabar Urban Development Agency (CUDA), who ensured the evacuation of the baby and her mother to the closest Primary Healthcare Centre within the area. CR Ministry of Inter. Development to Partner with CREPA to Promote Healthy Environment - Commissioner

  The Honourable Commissioner for international Development and Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Inyang Asibong had  expressed readiness of her ministry to partner  with the Cross River State Environmental Protection (CREPA) to promote sustainable and healthy environment in the state. Hon. UNFPA donates Personal Protective Equipments to tackle second wave of COVID-19 in Hospitals

The United Nations Fund for Population Activities(UNFPA), through the Ministry of International Development Cooperation has supported some Health Facilities in the State with Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to tackle the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Hon Com for International Development Cooperation (MIDC), Inyang Asibong while presenting the items to the CRS Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu, at the General Hospital, Calabar,  said the PPEs are to support  Health Workers who are at the forefront of the fight against the dreaded infection and to improve the safety of individuals who are actively working and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in hospitals. The New Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode Sikiru Akande on Wednesday 3rd day of February 2021 received Cross River State Environmental Protection Agency (CREPA) who paid him a courtesy visit to the state command in appreciation of the supports the Cross River State Government has been enjoying from the police in past years.
