NNL 2021 Season: Rovers step up preparations with a win against Diamond Stars in pre season friendly

  By Kelvin Obambon Rovers Football Club Calabar is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the team achieve its objective of finishing top in the Nigeria National League (NNL). This is as the club intensifies preparations ahead of commencement of the 2020/2021 season with a win against Diamond Stars FC, Calabar. The match which kicked off 4pm on Tuesday at the main bowl of the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, recorded some brilliant performances by players of Rovers, who outclassed their opponent from the national amateur division. Rovers opened scoring few minutes into the first half when Josiah Daniel converted a short pass within the penalty area. The lead was extended after Kingsley Michael's clinical strike few meters away from the penalty spot took the goal tally in the first half to two. Hon. Emmanuel Asegem, the Director of Operations of Cross River Anti-deforestation Taskforce has advised members of the public to disregard any purported posting of members and swapping of positions that was made by Mr Agan Modey and Mr Dan Ushie. In a statement signed by Hon. Emmanuel Asegem, he said that both the Chairman and the Secretary have not been able to arrest even truck of wood since their appointment in May 2020. One of the biggest issues in the Nigerian Health sector is the alarmingly high maternal and new born mortality rate, With Nigeria having the worse indices in sub-Saharan Africa. CRS Forestry Commission moves to resolve communal dispute over ownership of Lafarge lease area

  By Blessing Enagu, MOI Officer reporting for CRSFC The Cross River State Forestry  Commission has Waded into the lingering contention between eight communities in the state over rightful beneficiaries of Lafarge Africa's (manufacturers of UNICEM cement) corporate social responsibility. The communities which are within the Ekinta forest reserve and the Oban group of forests reserve,  being Lafarge lease area, have been embroiled in controversy; with each claiming to be the rightful landlord community with deserving benefits. Cross River State Ministry of Finance achieves $20.4million grants under the SFTAS Programme

  Cross River State has achieved a total sum of Twenty million, four hundred thousand US Dollars ($20.4M) as a result of scoring 100 per cent for all Fiscal, Transparency and Accountability indicators of the World Bank in the 2020 Fiscal Year. This was earned after a detailed annual performance assessment of all 36 Nigerian states under the States' Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) programme. This grant achievement places Cross River State at the top among the 36 states in the Federation and sets a national record for the fiscal year. SFTAS is a World Bank funded competitive programme of the federal government which rewards states for meeting specifically set indicators for improved fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability.
