As Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 presidential elections, the nation's youth stand at a critical crossroads—one that presents both an opportunity for political transformation and a test of their collective aspirations. The Deputy Regional Coordinator (South) of the Nigeria Youth For Atiku (NYFA), Hon. Victor Bassey, emphasized this during a strategic meeting with the NYFA Lagos State contingent.
Addressing a gathering of political stakeholders and youth leaders in Lagos, Hon. Bassey underscored the necessity of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy, describing it as a defining moment for the country’s future. He noted that the overwhelming support from young Nigerians is a testament to Atiku’s leadership acumen, his developmental track record, and his ability to unite the nation at a time when division threatens national progress.
Hon. Victor Bassey highlighted that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s political journey has consistently demonstrated his commitment to national unity, economic advancement, and youth empowerment. According to him, those who oppose Atiku’s aspirations are simply resisting the inevitable progress that his leadership represents.
"Atiku’s achievements and influence span across all 36 states of Nigeria. His ability to bridge divides and foster national cohesion makes him the ideal candidate for the presidency," Bassey remarked. "It is, therefore, crucial that we embrace reconciliation and unity because Atiku is set to lead Nigeria into a prosperous future."
Citing a local proverb "when the drum beats, the children of the village dance together"—Hon. Bassey urged all NYFA members and stakeholders to set aside rivalry and work towards a common goal: securing victory for Atiku Abubakar in 2027.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, is widely recognized as a seasoned administrator, a respected global political figure, and a successful businessman. His candidacy embodies hope and a vision for a greater Nigeria, a vision that requires the dedication and support of all stakeholders within the NYFA and beyond.
Hon. Bassey invoked the words of acclaimed Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: "The danger of a single story is that it creates stereotypes; the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete." He stressed the need for a collective approach to national progress, urging young Nigerians to move beyond narrow perspectives and unite behind Atiku’s vision for the country.
"As we march toward 2027, we must rally behind Prof. Gold CW Emmanuel’s leadership within the NYFA framework, ensuring that our movement remains strong and focused," he added. "We must heed Aristotle’s wisdom that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’—by standing together, we amplify our voice and secure victory for Atiku."
