The Commissioner Representing Cross River in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, has responded to criticisms from Kalita Igbe Aruku in a statement titled, "What is really the intention of this post?" He urged Kalita to present specific issues for clarity, reaffirming his commitment to addressing any concerns transparently.
Quoting the Bible, he remarked, “My people perish due to lack of knowledge,” and proceeded to clarify key matters, including the distribution of rice palliatives sent by the Federal Government and NDDC during the Yuletide season.
Duke explained that while Cross River State's consignment arrived late, he ensured fair distribution, asking rhetorically, “Is that a crime?”
He emphasized the NDDC’s role in supporting Governor Bassey Otu's administration rather than competing with it.
Duke highlighted key projects undertaken by the commission, including solar street lights, refuse bins, ongoing road construction across the state, and the Etung road project recently flagged off by the Honorable Minister.
Duke further responded, “A hunter would always feel aggrieved and angry at a tree that prevented it from killing an animal during a hunt.”
He assured the public of the NDDC’s continued support for Governor Otu's administration and dismissed the attacks on NDDC projects as unproductive.
Duke reaffirmed his belief in the success of Governor Otu’s 8-year tenure and urged critics to focus on constructive dialogue rather than baseless allegations.
