Senator Eteng Williams Empowers Constituents in Livestock Farming

Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial district, Senator Eteng Williams has assured his constituents that he would remain committed to his focus on human empowerment aiming to alleviate the current hardship.

Senator Williams gave the assurance at an empowerment programme on livestock farming held on Friday, 8th November at Gold Palm Hotel, Ikom.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Senator represented by his Special Adviser, Hope Obeten said the training on livestock farming is a bid to make constituents self-reliant.

He said: “Human Capital development is a major form of empowerment, encouraging every Youth and woman of the Senatorial district to have a source of income.”

“Poultry is very lucrative, you can do your small farm in your house and before Christmas, you make your money.”

Obeten disclosed that at the end of the training, all beneficiaries were given day-old chicks, starter packs, feeds, drinkers, and grants to start up their poultry farming immediately.

He further enjoined beneficiaries of the training not to sell the chicks but start-up livestock farming to maximize the opportunities provided by the programme.

Beneficiaries of the training lauded the Senator, “This training has given me hope for a better future. I'm grateful for Senator Eteng Williams' initiative," said Mabel Bessong, a beneficiary from Ikom Local Government Area.

“The starter packs and grants provided will go a long way in helping us establish our poultry farms. Thank you, Senator Eteng Williams," added Jehoiakim Agbor, another beneficiary from Abi Local Government Area.
