Senator Eteng Jonah Williams: Championing all-round development in Central Senatorial District

It was Jim Stovall who said "You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins.”

The above is the reason why I have keenly followed Senator Eteng Jonah Williams activities as the Senator Representing Central Senatorial District.

The name Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, is today synonymous with visionary leadership for consistently demonstrating unwavering commitment to development of various facets of the Central Senatorial District. His initiatives towards development, span various sectors and highlights his determination to uplifting the living standard of his constituents, setting an example of what dedicated public service should embody.

One of Senator Williams's agenda is Education. His scholarship scheme that started many years ago before venturing into politics.

As a Senator, Williams  has awarded scholarship grants of 200 thousand Naira each to 21 Students of Cross River Central Senatorial District at the Nigeria Law Schools in March 2024, paid school fees for hundreds of students from Central Senatorial District in various institutions across the country.

And recently he has facilitated an overseas scholarship for 12 Cross Riverians as part of his commitment to Education.

Additionally, the lawmaker also championed vocational training for youths in his district, recognizing the importance of equipping the young people and women with practical skills that meet the demands of the modern job market. The training was on the following: a three days training for 200 women and youths in Entrepreneurship Skills, three days training of Youth in Capacity Building and Sensitization on domestic Violence with 200 participants and three days training of Artisans in Agro Economy as  a tool for self Reliance with 200 participants, further assisting the trainees with 30,000 each, totaling the sum of 18,000,000 (eighteen million naira). He has nominated 40 youths from Cross River Central Senatorial Districts for a one month vocational skills training in the oil and gas sector under Petroleum Development Trust fund (PTFD) and at the end of the training, it is expected that the trainees will be empowered with employability skills in the oil and gas sector and starter packs to earn a living.

Another policy that is in the heart of Senator Williams is Healthcare. Williams has been a formidable advocate for improved healthcare services. Collaborating with Cross River State Ministry of Health, he has sponsored Free medical outreach program across the six Local Government Areas that made up Central Senatorial District. These exercise has brought the much needed healthcare services to the people of Central, offering free surgeries, consultations, and medical commodities to those who otherwise might not have access to such care. His commitment to healthcare is evident in his continuous push for better funding and resources for health centers, and has announced for input to better the forthcoming health care programs.

Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has facilitated appointments, and employments for eligible constituents.

In the words of Cross River-born ace broadcaster, Mr. Omini Oden, in one of his post "Pictures, locations and videos don't tell lie." So I will be providing a holistic evidence to Senator Williams activities. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, with many individuals now enjoying improved livelihood in the central senatorial district.

In conclusion Senator Williams has remained tireless in developing material and human capital, he is also laying the background for a brighter and more prosperous future for the entire Central and Cross River State. As the district continues to evolve, it is leaders like Senator Williams who will be remembered for their contributions to its development.
