In a formal letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osopong Ward 2, Obubra Local Government Area, Mr. Umezulike Desmond-cruz has tendered his resignation from the party, citing deep-seated concerns about the current state of the PDP.
In his letter, Desmond-cruz expressed disappointment over what he described as the party's departure from the ideals of its founding fathers. According to him, the PDP has been "hijacked at all levels" by individuals who no longer serve the interests of the people but rather promote personal and selfish agendas.
He lamented that the party, once a beacon of hope and a viable alternative for the people, has become factionalized and lost its ability to serve as a robust opposition, particularly in the face of Nigeria's economic challenges. Desmond-cruz further criticized the current leadership for its failure to offer "vibrant opposition and people-centric policy alternatives."
His resignation takes effect immediately, and while he acknowledged the difficulty of the decision, he affirmed it as necessary for both his personal interests and those of his community.
