Authorities in Nigeria have confirmed that 37 people have died as a result of the flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) told the Detailing News that the flood has displaced over half a million people from their homes, with some still trapped in the floodwaters.
In Maiduguri, the state capital where the flood has damaged about 40 percent of the city, rescue operations are still ongoing to assist those affected.
The floods have also destroyed hospitals, zoos, and farms.
Meanwhile, eight internally displaced persons (IDP) camps have been established in Maiduguri to provide shelter for those affected.
This is the worst flooding the Northeastern city has experienced in the past thirty years.
