The Senate on Thursday passed for first reading a bill seeking to amend the Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (SB 525)
The bill was sponsored by the Senator Representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams.
The bill, which seeks to provide a legal framework for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ugep, if passed into law, will cater to the health needs of the entire people of Cross River Central Senatorial District and assuage them the sufferings of travelling to Calabar or other neighbouring states when seeking for medical attention from tertiary health institutions.
