C'River State's Canaan Queens Arrive in Libya for African Table Tennis Championships, Play First Game Against Libyan Ladies
Cross River State's delegation to this year's African Table Tennis Championships in Libya has arrived safely and participated in the opening games. Representing the state in the female category is the Canaan Queens of Calabar Table Tennis Club, founded by Rt. Hon. Otuekong Orok Duke, who currently serves as the State Representative on the NDDC Board.
Orok Duke expressed confidence in the team, noting that the state boasts some of the best talents in table tennis. The team, who landed in Egypt before proceeding to Benghazi, Libya's capital, arrived in high spirits and were seen cheerful and well-prepared.
The African Table Tennis Championships began on Tuesday with a tournament marking the official kick-off in Benghazi. The Canaan Table Tennis Club played their first opening game against the Libyan Ladies in the quarterfinals.
This tournament serves as a qualification for the World Club Championship scheduled to take place later this year.
