Arthur Jarvis University Mass Communication Students Commend Entrepreneurial Development Centre's Skill Programmes During Practical Assignment Visit

The year one Mass Communication students from Arthur Jarvis University made an unannounced visit to the university’s Entrepreneurial Development Centre on Monday, June 10, 2024, as part of their practical assignment on news writing.



During their visit, the students praised Dr. Uduak Mbang, the Centre Coordinator, and her team for their skill acquisition programmes, stating that these initiatives offer valuable experiences to students. Dr. Mbang welcomed the students and introduced the team members, Mr. Kingsley ldogen and Mr. Christian Mbe.



Dr. Mbang highlighted the Centre's focus on practical, market-driven education, emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in tertiary institutions. She encouraged students to choose skills related to their professions, underscoring the variety of entrepreneurial programs offered, such as tailoring, water production, cosmetology, photography, electrical work, graphics design, public speaking, and farming.



She noted that these skills help students generate personal income during their studies and after graduation. The Centre supports students in producing a range of products including shampoo, bleach, liquid soap, air fresheners, organic hand wash, flower vases from waste products, clothing, and baked goods.


Dr. Mbang urged students to take entrepreneurship seriously and utilize these skills to become self-employed and financially independent post-graduation.


The visit concluded with a tour of the facility, including the water processing factory, photography studio, lecture theatres, and other amenities.
