Measles outbreak in Calabar

We have confirmed outbreak of measles in two schools in Calabar- Navy and Penniel primary schools. There are also reported yet to be confirmed cases in Akpabuyo LGA. The State Rapid Response Team has be activated and deployed to the affected LGAs. Reactive vaccination for children is ongoing in the affected LGAs. In LGAs where there are no reported cases, the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency is intensifying routine immunization to build up herd immunity.

Measles is a highly contagious infection especially among unimmunized children. Parents and care givers are encouraged to response positively to routine immunization campaigns for their children. Symptoms especially rash and coughing in children should be reported early to the nearest health facility

C'River State sets aside Jan 27 for Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Cross River State Government has announced Saturday, January 27, 2024, between the hours of 7 am and 10 am as a day for environmental sanitation exercises across the state. The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except for those on essential duties. He urged business owners and residents to partake in the cleaning and evacuation of waste around their surroundings during the hours of sanitation. The release noted that defaulters shall be charged and tried by Cross River State Mobile Court.
