IWD 2024: C'River Lawmaker, Hon. Cyril Omini, empowers 150 women with ₦15 Million




...As constituents, beneficiaries hail lawmaker for exceptional leadership.



The Lawmaker representing Yakurr I Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Cyril James Omini , on Friday disbursed ₦15 million to 150 women in his constitiency for their small scale businesses.



While disbursing the cash at the ceremony that held at Council Guest House, Ugep, Omini said the empowerment of women in his constituency is to commemorate the 2024 International Women's Day and to demonstrate his unwavering committment to change the socioeconomic status of women of his constituency amid the trending global economic challenges.


Hon. Omini who doubles as Chairman of House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation,  underscores the importance of creating a conducive environment for women to thrive and succeed in their chosen field of endeavour, in line with the 'People First' mantra of Cross River State Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, noting that empowerment of women was vital in addressing social, economic and political challenge while making them to be self-reliant.


Continuing, Hon. Omini informed that the choice of empowering 150 women and other members of his constituency were in fulfillment of some of his campaign promises, to empower the youth and women with the aim to alleviating poverty and to better the lot of the people.


The lawmaker, while urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the empowerment gesture and offer of business training and mentorship, he hailed his constituents for their unalloyed support. He assured them of his commitment and readiness to providing meaningful and effective representation.


Recall that the member prior to his election and assumption of office some months ago, has created positive impacted on lives and families with donation of cash as business and educational support, donation of cars, motorcycles, and upsetting hospital bills for the sick as well extending financial aid to the less privileged, aged and needy members of his constitiency and beyond.


Beneficiaries of the lawmaker's empowerment program, including Rosemary Lawrence Eko, Mrs. Jenny Iwara Utre, and Mrs. Nkiru Pius Egbe, expressed gratitude for Hon. Cyril Omini's unique leadership approach, generous actions, and unwavering efforts to empower youth, women, and men while enhancing the standard of living for his constituents.


They thanked him for prioritizing the welfare of his people in line with the Governor Otu's 'People First' Mantra and assured the lawmaker of their steadfast support both now and in the future.


Meanwhile, distinguished individuals from the constituency and beyond, such as the Ex-Presidential Aide Okoi Obono-Obla, former Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development in the State, Prof. John Inyang, Mr. Essien Emmanuel Okoi, and Hon. Eteng Obol, among others, have continued to praise the lawmaker for his patriotism, unwavering dedication to service, humanitarian efforts, as well as his qualitative leadership and innovative representation, a rarity since 1999.

C'River State sets aside Jan 27 for Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Cross River State Government has announced Saturday, January 27, 2024, between the hours of 7 am and 10 am as a day for environmental sanitation exercises across the state. The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except for those on essential duties.  He urged business owners and residents to partake in the cleaning and evacuation of waste around their surroundings during the hours of sanitation.  The release noted that defaulters shall be charged and tried by Cross River State Mobile Court.  Remember, a clean environment is everyone's business, together let's keep Cross River State Clean, green and serene.
