Cross River Government takes action against sanitation defaulters as Sanitation holds on Saturday

In a bid to continue promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability in Cross River State, the Commissioner for Environment Hon. Moses Osogi has announced 30th March 2024 as statewide environmental sanitation for March.  He noted that business owners and residents are encouraged to participate in various cleanliness drives, and waste disposal activities, around their surroundings during the sanitation period.  Furthermore, restrictions on human and vehicular movements begin from 6:30 am to 10 am except for those on essential duties.  For emphasis residents are urged to actively engage in these monthly sanitation efforts, recognizing their role in fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for generations to come. The commissioner concluded that defaulters would be prosecuted by the Cross River Government.

By Itam Offor  The State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has withdrawn the appointment of Mr Patrick Edi, initially appointed clerk of the State House of Assembly and has appointed Barrister Catherine Ubi as substantive clerk.  A letter signed by the secretary of the state government, Prof Anthony Owan Enoh and addressed to the Speaker of the House which was read during plenary, states that; "the reversal of appointment is based on the fact that the critical criterion of seniority was not highlighted or even made reference to in the recommendation made to His Excellency, the Governor." Measles outbreak in Calabar

We have confirmed outbreak of measles in two schools in Calabar- Navy and Penniel primary schools. There are also reported yet to be confirmed cases in Akpabuyo LGA. The State Rapid Response Team has be activated and deployed to the affected LGAs. Reactive vaccination for children is ongoing in the affected LGAs. In LGAs where there are no reported cases, the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency is intensifying routine immunization to build up herd immunity.  Measles is a highly contagious infection especially among unimmunized children. Parents and care givers are encouraged to response positively to routine immunization campaigns for their children. Symptoms especially rash and coughing in children should be reported early to the nearest health facility Don't engage in self medication HCH

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Facilitates Distribution of Food Items, Relief Materials in Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing Cross River South Senatorial District, has pleaded with his constituents to keep faith with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu as they continue their tireless efforts to address the ecomomic challenges of the state and the country at large. He made these remarks at the distribution of food items and relief materials to over 1000 residents of his district at Government Primary School, Ikot Nakanda, Akpabuyo Local Government Area on Saturday, 2nd March 2024.
