To commemorate the International Day of Peace, the Peace Corps of Nigeria and it's partners in the State remarkably celebrates, identifying Peace as a panacea for development.
At Transcorp Hotel in Calabar where they held a Conference/Stakeholder's Forum with the theme: Towards a Peaceful Cross River, many discussants bare their minds on the essence of peace and peaceful coexistence to foster development in the society.
The State Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Patriot (Dr.) Okweche, Dominic Odey who was represented by his Deputy incharge of Policy and Plans, Patriot Okpokiri, Peter Adi was given a "Community Hero" award in grateful recognition for his exceptional dedication, courage, and selflessness in community peace building by the Partner for Peace in the Niger Delta(P4P)
Other reputable Cross River indigenes such as the former House of Representatives Member, Rt.Hon. Legor Idagbo, Cross River State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, Prof. Jacob Agba, the Cross River State Youth Chairman, Comrade Dan Obo, amongst others were also awarded. The Commandant pledged his continued partnership with relevant agencies and stakeholders in the State and beyond in ensuring a peaceful society.
