Senator Williams trains over 500 youths, women on Entrepreneurship Skills, Domestic Violence, Agro Economy
Over five hundred youths and women from Cross River State Central Senatorial have been trained in Entrepreneurship Skills, Capacity building sensitization of youth on domestic violence, and training of artisans on Agro Economy as a tool for self-reliance.
The training was organized by Senator Eteng Jonah Williams in collaboration with the Federal Cooperative College Oji-River, Enugu State.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the Six local government areas of the Central Senatorial District which are Abi, Yakurr, Obubra, Ikom, Etung, and Boki.
Apart from the issuance of certificates, each of the participants received a training grant.
Williams who was represented by His Special Adviser on Media Mr. Hope Obeten, during the training said the resolve to train the beneficiaries on the various skills is to build in them in the spirit of enterprise and to reduce unemployment in Central Senatorial District.
He noted that the goal of the training is to build the capacity of youths and women to become not only self-reliant but also employers of labour.
He concluded that peace can only be achieved in society when youths and women are empowered and thoroughly engaged.
Participants in their celebration mood lauded Sen. Williams for training them in various skills and described his action as timely.
“We in the Central have been yearning for empowerment to be self-independent and opportunity is now given to us by our Senator. And this is his first training, he is facilitating as a Senator, we know and trust that he will bring more and attract more dividends of democracy”, the beneficiary added.
Speaking earlier one of the instructors Engr. Isaiah commended Senator Eteng Jonah Williams for partnering with them to bring this training to his people while urging all participants to take advantage of this opportunity for their economic independence.
