History Beckons as Joy Offere wins Diana Award

Cross Riverians keep topping the chart in many positive ways and this time, Joy Offere, a citizen of Cross River State - Nigeria emerges recipient of the 2023 Diana Award. The award is said to be the highest accolade a young person can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts. This award established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales is given out by the charity of the same name and has the support of both her sons, HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex. Joy Offere's passion and commitment in promoting Women's rights in Nigeria using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for social good through her initiative 'Shenovate' keeps bridging the gender gap in technology, the very reason she was awarded. C'River Central: Senator Williams to embark on needs assessment tour

The Senator representing Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Sen. Eteng Jonah Williams said he would soon embark on a needs assessment tour of Central Senatorial District. Senator Williams disclosed this in Calabar on Tuesday during an interactive session with newsmen on the possible ways to proffer lasting solutions to the needs of the people of Central. Williams said that the tour became necessary to ascertain the needs of his people across the six local government areas that make up the Central Senatorial District. Assent To Nigeria Police Pension Board Bill, NPA Retirees Beg Tinubu

Nigeria Police Retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) have called on President Bola Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, assent to the Bill for the establishment of the Nigeria Police Pension Board, saying it would liberate those under the National Pension Commission (PENCOM)-managed scheme from servitude. The Retirees body made the passionate plea in a release signed by its national coordinator, SP Christopher Effiong (Rtd), today, in Calabar.
