According to her, Prince's candidacy was wildly accepted irrespective of tribe, region, political party or affiliation as he won in 15 out of 18 Local Government Areas in the state including the LGA of his rivals.
She said, the 18th march election is one of the freest and most inclusive elections held in the country since the new democratic dispensation ushering in new breed of leaders and people oriented politicians.
She noted that, during his time in the national assembly as a member of Parliament representing Odukpani- calabar municipal federal constituency and senator representing the Southern Senatorial District, the "sweet prince" as he's widely called facilitated the establishment and development of various health facilities and programs which set the pace for a healthy society being enjoyed today. She's confident that, in the nearest future, the state will actualize it's goal of meeting the United nations standard of total health security, universal health coverage and quality Health care for all. She thanked and described the state Governor , Senator Ben Ayade as the Hero of the election and one who kept his promise to the people of the south by continuing the principle of power shift and rotation to all senatorial districts in the state. She therefore wished him success and a memorable tenure in leading the affairs of the state "I'm using this medium to congratulate Our newly Elected Governor Elect and the Choice of the people, Distinguished Senator Prince Bassey Otu and His Deputy, Mr Peter Odey for having emerged winner of the Highly Contested poll across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state as well as the Soon to be Youngest Senator in the History of Nigeria, Asuquo Ekpenyong. My deep appreciation goes to the State Governor for piloting this project for the sake of equity, justice and a sense of inclusiveness by returning power back to the South after a 16 years wait. The man Prince Bassey Otu is no visitor to the people of Cross River State and a highly celebrated among his people especially those in the southern senatorial district who he served during his time in the National Assembly . Senator Bassey Otu in his own personal capacity facilitated the establishment of various health facilities within the southern senatorial district, supplied drugs and catered for the health needs of constituents. I'm assured that in his time as Governor, he will definitely be governor to all and will uphold the quality health programs initiated by his Excellency, Senator Ben Ayade in the last 8years. As for Asuquo Ekpenyong, I am assured of his capacity intellectually and his audacity to dare and make laws that will promote good governance for his people and all who come across him". It will be recalled that, Dr Janet Ekpenyong, one of the emerging political leaders in Eniong Abatim and the Odukpani extraction produced one of the most sensational results in favor of the All Progressive Congress in the last general elections winning all polling units under her supervision in landslide.
