Bassey Eko Ewa: The Stinking BEE of Yakurr Politics

Today, Yakurr politics cannot be discussed without looking closely at the emergence of Bassey Eko Ewa into politics. He was a two-time member, Cross River State House of Assembly, erstwhile Speaker of the same house, and three-time member, Federal House of Representatives, cumulatively staying in power for a record 20 years. An impressive record for a young man with no sound background. Through the years, Bassey who has been a product of mere political opportunities was first known as Usani Uguru Usani's boy. That was the time Usani held sway over Yakurr politics, At the time Usani's political sun was setting, Bassey was already in Obeten Okorn Obeten's camp, stinking his master Usani as a BEE because Obeten's sun was rising then. It wasn’t long before this relationship went sour, the BEE again stunk its Godfather and repressed his political power to emerge the leader of Yakurr politics above Obeten who was the highest political office holder at the time.
