As part of her activities upon resumption of office the honourable commissioner for health Hon.Dr.Janet David Ekpenyong embarked on a facility inspection tour of the Obudu German Hospital with the state governor H.E Sen.Prof.Ben Ayade CON. expressed optimism that at the completion of the hospital, the state will become Nigeria's medical tourism hub as it will be the first of it's kind in Africa as Nigerians will no longer have any reason to travel abroad in search of medical solutions to complicated health challenges.
The Obudu German Hospital which has a 140 bed space provision offers top-notch medical services, with the Cross River state government partnering with Health Share Solutions of South Africa and Siemens Technology to ensure a smooth and professional running of the hospital.
Dr.Janet Ekpenyong who was overwhelmingly grateful to his excellency for embarking on a highly commendable project as this which she retorted will affect positively the lives of Cross Riverians, Nigerians and indeed the world at large whilst positioning Cross River State on the world map as a leading light in the health sector for provision of quality health services.

Speaking further Dr. Ekpenyong reiterated that one of the most superlative features of the hospital is the social welfare component of the hospital which is the social insurance scheme that provides free medical services for Cross Riverians and all residents of the area with little or no income at all. She noted that the era where Cross Riverians are abandoned to die as a result of not having funds to sort hospital bills is all but over as this component will be providing free medical support services to the less privileged who have no source of livelihood to afford it.
