WHO South South Zone Coordinator Dr. Olufumilola Appluads The CRSMOH Efforts In Immunization

The Permanent Secretary of the Cross River State Ministry of Health Obol Dr. Iwara Iwara earlier today received the World Health Organization (WHO) South South Zonal Coordinator Dr. Kolude Olufumilola to the State on an advocacy visit to ascertain the efforts made so far by the State in terms of her immunization activities and to enhance support by engaging with the State Government and the leadership of the health ministry to seek more collaboration and enhance their support in strengthening the health system of the State. Speaking during her visit, Dr. Olufumilola commended the efforts of the State Government and the health ministry for her sterling records in the area of immunization that has ranked the State as one of the best in South South. "During and even before my visit, WHO is not ignorant of the State's efforts and tremendous performance in the area of immunization as records shows that CRS is topping the list in terms of immunization and the Covid-19 vaccination exercise. The purpose of this advocacy visit is to see how we can continue to engage with the State Government and the leadership of the CRSMOH to seek more collaboration in enhancing/strengthening the State's health system and to support PHC revitalization and integration of services coming on the hills of enhancing WHO support for routine immunization with the just concluded integrated measles vaccination on non polio supplementary activities. (Measles, Covid-19 and R.I)." Dr. Kolude ended by congratulating the State for having a wider coverage in the measles/Covid-19 campaign and her recent award as the best performing State in South South Zone in terms of Covid-19 vaccination while pledging more support to the State in the area of Covid-19 vaccination, R.I and PHC integrated services even in security compromised, hard to reach and refugees areas. Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health Obol Dr. Iwara Iwara in appreciation commended the steadfastness and reliability of the Organization to the State. "While I welcome you and your team to our dear State on behalf of the State Governor Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, I wish to remind you that your organization's reliability remains a top-notch, WHO has been of tremendous support to us especially in the area of immunization, Covid-19, measles amongst others. Though we've enjoyed this support but the effect of the endsars vandalization leading to dilapidated buildings, lack of storage space, amongst others is beginning to tell on us as State. We are not ignorant of your services both at the primary and secondary facilities especially as it involves immunization and during the outbreak of Covid-19. We're happy for the capacity building you're carrying out for our people as we're very ready to provide all the needed technical support to facilitate your work here in the State not forgetting the directives of the Deputy Governor to the commissioner for lands to facilitate an office space for you for proper accommodation. Lack of adequate support for the secondary health facilities remains a major challenge to us as more concentration is given only to the primary health facilities. This can be achieved especially now that WHO has a wider mandate while I'll continue to make out efforts for the organization to meet with the Deputy Governor soon. In a vote of thanks, the WHO State Coordinator Dr. Ibrahim Salisu thanked on behalf of himself and his team the State for being proactive and for the warm reception as well as the cordial relationship they've enjoyed so far while assuring the ministry of more support, synergy and working relationship while thanking/appreciating the State on her wonderful performance in the area of immunization and Covid-19 vaccination. C'River State sets aside Jan 27 for Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Cross River State Government has announced Saturday, January 27, 2024, between the hours of 7 am and 10 am as a day for environmental sanitation exercises across the state. The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except for those on essential duties.  He urged business owners and residents to partake in the cleaning and evacuation of waste around their surroundings during the hours of sanitation.  The release noted that defaulters shall be charged and tried by Cross River State Mobile Court.  Remember, a clean environment is everyone's business, together let's keep Cross River State Clean, green and serene.
