Dr Janet Ekpenyong Adds Another Feather, Inducted Into the Fellowship of "African Institute of Public health Professionals".
Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has been meritoriously inducted into the prestigious body of health professionals in the African Continent as a "Fellow , African Institute of Public health Professional".
The Celebral Doctor who was in the company of well established and renowned Public Health Professionals across the continent was filled with joy in a highly delighted occasion held at the Egyptian Capital, Cairo, North Africa.
The young , energetic and vibrant DG who has created a nitch for herself in the Public Health sector with her most recent achievements coming as the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency is well celebrated and considered by many as a leading light brightening the future of young Appointees in the Country.
With a dogged and resilient approach towards Community based medical Services, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has created one of the longest and most effective work chains as she often leads from the front sensitizing, vaccinating , consulting in different Communities defilling natural barriers irrespective of time and seasons .
Owing to these noble feat achieved in recent years, the Havard certified and Igbinedion University Graduate is impacting into the lives of women and children across the state with her unquantifiable and dynamic philanthropic gestures all year round.
Since her appointment as the Second Executive Secretary of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency by His Excellency, Senator Ben Ayade, Dr Janet Ekpenyong have supervised the revitalization of some major health facilities across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, facilitated the kick-starting and full implementation of revolutionary health policies, unbiased employment of health workers and the functionality of the programs.
While she stood with pride bearing the nation's flag at the event , Dr Janet Ekpenyong remains humble as she sees opportunities like these as stepping stones and better prospects to meet the unmet, the vulnerable and those who desire the impact of government the most.
In the last couple of years Dr Janet Ekpenyong stands tall with giants in the health sector, proffering solutions to common health challenges and policies, while harnessing available support to help the nation actualize the vision towards universal health coverage while she also serve as the Vice Chairman of the Forum of Executive Secretaries in Nigeria.
Our highly celebrated and influential Medical practitioner isn't a novice in the International scene as she has worked with several international organizations to promote funding for health, such organization is Palladium on a USAID – Health Policy Project as the National Technical Advisor, where she led on Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) and Public Financial Management (PFM) support for Sustainable Health Financing of HIV/AIDS and TB Programs at the national level both in Lagos and Kano States.
She also provided technical expertise on the USAID Health Policy Plus/Integrated Health Policy Project where she Led the design and implementation of relevant studies including State Health Accounts, Fiscal Space Analysis and public expenditure reviews which culminated to improved health financing environment in the supported states. She also worked with Abt Associates on the USAID-Health Finance and Governance Project in Cross River where she was able to support the state on domestic resource mobilization for health leading to increased budgetary allocation and releases for health.
In her continuous quest for knowledge, Dr Janet Ekpenyong is currently studying for a PhD program in public health at the Texila American university, she has a masters degree in public health from University of Glasgow. She is a graduate of medicine and surgery from Igbinedion university and has a lot of certifications from prestigious schools Such as University of Washington, The Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, Southern medical University Guanzhou, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine amongst others.
She is a recipient of numerous Awards and recognitions including a Justice of Peace Medal by the universal peace federation, Distinguished Award of honor and Excellence Award, Rotary club international, lions club international amongst others.
Dr Ekpenyong is widely celebrated for her humanitarian and philanthropy services as she is committed and passionate about causes which help to improve the welfare and socioeconomic status of people especially those in the rural communities.
Others who were also inducted include Dr Naeema Hassam Al-Gasseer, Country Representative of the
WHO Egypt, the National women leader, Dr Betta Edu, Former Sudan minister of health and WHO Country Director, Dr Akram Ali Mohammed amongst others.
