APC Ticket: Asegem meets Yala 11 ward executives, insists on Wanokom as venue for primary election ...receives rousing support for his candidacy

Fresh from being cleared to contest the forthcoming All Progressives Congress primary election scheduled for 27th May in Wanokom, North Ukelle, Yala Local Government Area.

Chief Asegem Emmanuel who had garnered a commanding lead as  the most preferred aspirant for Yala 11 State Constituency in the party raked up another massive boost to his aspiration in a meeting with ward executives across Ukelle to intimate them of his plans if given the ticket and eventually elected as member of the Cross River State House of Assembly.

In a meeting held yesterday in Ukelle, the Director General of Asegem Campaign Organization,Hon Sam Okuzi, while welcoming them highlighted that the task before every ward executive is to put Ukelle forward having seen that Ukelle is still lagging behind in terms of acceptable indices of development.

Okuzi opined that the successful screening and clearance of Chief Asegem by All Progressives Congress to contest the primary election lays to rest every rumour of any consensus arrangement being peddled by perennial rumour millers. He added  that," whoever says otherwise is being deceptive to the people"

In a rousing support, Hon Asegem who was described as the man with a sincere and deliberate action plan to alleviate the sufferings of the people emphasized that his ambition is being propelled by God's grace and the effusion of time which requires a man like him on the saddle because Ukelle is in dire need of a messenger that can hobnob to and fro with governments at all levels in the interest of constituents.

"We have a stronger opposition and we do not need to fight ourselves again because we are all from Ukelle. Let us go to the field and let whoever is generally accepted by the people be given the mandate through the democratic process. It would give us a lesser fight in the main election because it was the people themselves that made a bold statement on who represents them".

Decrying consensus as an undemocratic nature of chosing a representative, he averred that," I hate consensus even if it favours me I would insist on going to the field to examine if my little service to the people would speak for me or not".

In separate remarks at the event, ward chairmen and secretaries of the party in Ukelle unanimously gave Asegem a pat on the back with assurance of their unflinching support for a candidate whose mantra and actual performance are in tandem with the yearnings of the people.

Similarly, a cross section of ward executives expressed delight at the turnout with a firm believe that voting for Asegem in the forthcoming primary election would advance the viability of Ukelle in Cross River  politics because he possesses the charisma of making decisions that can help Ukelle which is bleeding from underdevelopment in critical sectors.

The meeting which sounded a loud echo of total support for Asegem from all the six wards across Ukelle had in attendance leader of Yala Legislative Council,Hon Patrick Egana, councillor representing Wanihem Ward,Hon Donatus Onawo his Wanokom counterpart, Hon Veronica Oli and Hon Ben Echim from Ijiraga Ward.
