In a bid to reach out to all eligible adults and to work harmoniously with other collaborating agencies of Government, the Cross River State Covid19 response team has visited the state command of the Nigerian Immigration Service to seek their support in raising awareness on the effect of Covid19 and the importance of vaccination.
Leading the team made up of staff of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, representative of the World Health Organization, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency and other partners, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong said, it's high time all individuals rise to the occasion to ensure mass mobilization and vaccination of citizens.
She said the Nigerian Immigration service is one of the most accessed government parastatals and bodies constantly engaging citizens and travelers ought to be among the champions of Immunization and Covid19 preventive advocate.
She urged the command to enforce all Covid-19 preventive protocols while going about their daily routines as she said, except there is a stop in mutation, the spread of the virus will continue and as such endanger the lives of Citizens.
"While we try to achieve herd immunity, we all must collaborate to ensure that we put an end to the spread of the Virus.
We all know the influx of people who come into your facility daily seeking to validate one document or the other, we plead that you preach the message of Covid-19 Vaccination and the enforcement of all safety guidelines as issued by the Federal Government for our safety.
We need to do everything possible to stop the spread of the virus to prevent mutation that may reduce the performance of existing Vaccines.
This means staying at least one meter away from others, covering a cough or sneeze in your elbow, frequently cleaning your hands, wearing a mask and avoiding crowded poorly ventilated rooms or opening a window"
Other speakers who spoke Including the representative of the World Health Organization Dr. Terna, expressed satisfaction with the synergy being created between members of the state Health team and other parastatals of government, noting that it will continue to give Cross River State an edge over other states in terms of pandemic management.
Responding on behalf of the Nigerian Immigration, the State comptroller, thanked the state Government for strong collaboration and the conducive environment to work while thanking the Director-General, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, and the team for considering the men and women of the Nigerian Immigration Service for vaccination. This gesture he believes will help embolden the officers to do more knowing that they will be protected against the Covid-19 virus after vaccination. He encouraged all the officers in the command to utilize the opportunity to get vaccinated.
Also in the team were Directors and staff of the CRSPHCDA and staff of WHO.
Continued advocacy and sensitization remain one of the best strategies to get more people vaccinated and the state government will not relent until the target population is reached and Cross River State and Nigeria attain Herd immunity.
