By Kingsley Agim and Jesam Ofem

Teachers Continuous Training Institute Biase, Cross River State, has held a two-day induction workshop for pioneer principal officers in a bid to improve their performance and efficiency.

Declaring the induction workshop open, the Director General Prof. Taoheed Adedoja  stated that the essence of the induction workshop is to build capacity of institute’s managers, adding that training of other officers of the Institute would also hold in different location soon.

“We are doing this because we want to be richer in knowledge and experience, management skills, human relations so we can create better environment for the development of the school in line with international best practice,” the DG remarked.

He further pointed out that for one to be in-charge of retraining others, they must be given an opportunity to retrain themselves first and be replete with the knowledge to impart in others; hence the reason for the two-day induction programme for the pioneer management staff of the institute.

According to the DG: “An expert in personnel  development who is well grounded in establishment would take up the Registrar of the school, a highly placed accountant would take up the bursar, an Information and Communication Technology guru would take up the librarian and ICT personnel , while a personnel development and resource management expert would take up the Director of Academic and professional services for the institution.”

Prof. Adedoja also revealed that the school has a demonstration secondary school that would serve as a laboratory where the teachers learning of new methods of teaching would be put to test in practical terms before going back to their various schools.

The educationist also averred that the school’s state-of-the-art facilities such as a comfortable guest rooms of about 200 capacity for trainee teachers, 500-capacity amphitheater, 2000-capacity multipurpose hall and competent personnel highlights the Teachers Continuous Training Institute as the bastion of educational advancement for teachers in Cross River, Nigeria and Africa.

The erudite Professor concluded that with the establishment of the institute in Biase, the sociology-economic status of the area would soon witness an upward trajectory.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the clan head of Ibogo, Atte Obhort, described the development of the school as a dream come through, that the villagers are very happy, while thanking the State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade for  the choice of Biase for the laudable project, adding that with this school been sited there, development would come to the community.

Alh. Salihu Korau, Dr. Dele O. Yaya, Dr. Uwem Uwah,
