A healthy society is a wealthy society so they said, that is why, the Cross River State Government has deviced an alternative approach towards reaching Communities through the "integrated medical outreach" approach by sensitization, awareness and therapeutic processes.
And as part of activities to mark the 2021 Eid-El-Maulud celebration, no fewer than 300 adults including women and children have benefited from the community health intervention program held in Nasarawa, a Hausa-Fulani settlement in Cross River State.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu while speaking to the beneficiaries noted that, the medical intervention is to encourage people in the State to take the COVID-19 vaccination without any fear. She said vaccination would help to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in the state and country.
“COVID-19 vaccine is designed to give protection to those who take it by making their bodies produce substances known as antibodies whose function is to fight disease.
She encouraged them to debunked report making rounds as vaccines are safe and free
Edu urged Muslims across the State and the rest of the citizenry to ensure good personal and environmental Hygiene to prevent Cholera and other diseases.
She encouraged them to visit the hospitals for Antenatal care, child birth, treatment of childhood illnesses as well as nutrition and immunization services, reaffirming the position of the State Government to defeat COVID-19 and other diseases in the State. She Charged them to embrace peace and live harmoniously with host Community.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong said, it was part of the Governor's goodwill to Celebrate Muslims as well as encourage the Community members to emulate Prophet Mohammed who stands for peace and unity. She also discouraged them against self medication, patronizing quackery and put an end to preventable deaths.
She said, all across the state, the government has built healthcare facilities to respond to the immediate needs of residents with full functionality of these spaces noting that the centres all boast of dedicated team of health workers as well as up to date medical commodities.
She further used the opportunity to sensitize the parents on the need to take advantage of some common services in the nearest facilities such as Family planning, Immunization for children, blood and sugar level check as well as other common Diseases while also encouraging them to come out for the Covid19 Vaccination exercise and to continually observe laid down protocols.

The state Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has asked that we reach out to everyone irrespective of tribe, Culture or Religious affiliation and we are glad by the warmth response you have us.
As part of effort to ensure that everyone gets uncompromised and top notched services, we have decided to take the health centre to your doorsteps, so that, you all can avail yourselves the opportunity to be diagnosed, treated and given referrals where neccesary.
We want to encourage you all to collectively help government in putting an end to self medication and quackery.
We call in men to encourage their wives to register for antenatal services, adopt family planning methods most suitable for them,as well as take their children out for Immunization and to check for other common ailments"
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the state government for the quickly intervention as they praised the Governor for remaining fair to all irrespective of the ethnic or Religious background.
They promised to abide by the instructions given to them, in order to remain healthy and productive.
High point of the event was the free screening of women and men or various illnesses, Covid-19 Vaccination, Distribution of drugs, mosquito nets, councelling for HIV/AIDS, sensitization on family planning methods, awareness on the importance of good personal hygiene as well as other commodities.
