Cross River State Govt receives relief materials from NIMASA for IDPs

 


The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) on Friday donated relief items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Cross River State.


Cross River State Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu Deputy while receiving the items, appreciated NIMASA’s efforts on behalf of the Governor of Cross River State.


The Deputy Governor who was represented by Commissioner of Health, Dr Betta Edu appreciated the Director-general’s efforts in supporting IDPs around the federation and  hereby assured the safety and proper utilization of the items by the designated people as planned.



“I gratefully accept all these items that vary from food items to some empowerment equipment, machines and keke Napep for small scale enterprises providing Livelihood for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.


“We appreciate the Director-general’s efforts in supporting IDPs in Cross River state and we guarantee that these items will reach the designated people as planned,” Edu said.


She said that all items received had been audited for proper disbursement to ensure accountability on our part while calling for an end to violence and other causes of displacement. For the warring communities it’s time to embrace peace and live in harmony to avoid creating more internally Displaced Persons across the State. She charged NIMASA  to be more supportive especially as it concern Maritime borders and health safety.


Dr Bashir Jamoh, Director-General of NIMASA, represented by S.A OG Communication and Strategy, Mr Ubong Essien while presenting the items, said that the donation was part of the agency’s Corporate Social Responsibility.


Jamoh said that the items would reduce the sufferings of the underprivileged, help them to become self- reliant and by so doing, eradicate poverty gradually in the society. He noted that some of the things donated were items ranging from food to some empowerment equipment, Grinding machines, generators and many  others materials.


Director General of Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr Princewill Ayim said it is the mandate of the agency to donate and provide empowerment items to displaced victims of IDPs. 


“You will agree with me that the State Government under the leadership of Senator Prof Ben Ayade have domesticated empowerment and entrenched it to becoming a standard practice and this has been integrated into the agency’s mandate and so the need to invest in communities all over Cross River State 


As oliver twist the representative of IDPs, Chief Ene Okon said the displaced persons need more than this but let me first thank you for this so that we will get more in future when we come for it.


Highlight of the event was presentation of the relief materials to the representative of the IDPs. Some of the relief materials donated were items ranging from food to some empowerment equipment for small medium scale Entreprises which includes grinding machines, generators others equipments.

C'River State sets aside Jan 27 for Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Cross River State Government has announced Saturday, January 27, 2024, between the hours of 7 am and 10 am as a day for environmental sanitation exercises across the state. The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except for those on essential duties.  He urged business owners and residents to partake in the cleaning and evacuation of waste around their surroundings during the hours of sanitation.  The release noted that defaulters shall be charged and tried by Cross River State Mobile Court.  Remember, a clean environment is everyone's business, together let's keep Cross River State Clean, green and serene.
