C'River State Student Leaders Laud Gershom's Achievements, Endorse Him As Next Governor, Come 2023

 



Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Cross River State, student leaders in the state have joined the growing list of supporters for the candidacy of the Senator Representing Cross River South, Sen Gershom Bassey, for the gubernatorial position.


Speaking during a solidarity visit by Students leaders in Cross River State, the National Association of the Nigerian Students (NANS) JCC Chairman Cross River State axis, Com Icha Godswill, thanked the Senator for investing in education through numerous student grants for educational activities. 



The NANS chairman said notebooks were shared across campuses courtesy of the Senator and his growing supporters, as more empowerment are being prepared for students across the state. The Chairman urged the Senator to get more students involved in accessing the grants he is facilitating for his constituents.

He also acknowledged that he is pushing for the campaign amongst students for them to get their PVCs seamlessly for the 2023 elections.


The former President, Students Union Government, UNICAL, Com Afufu Anthony who is the NANS National ex Officio 1 thanked the Senator for his support to the students through his numerous projects. Com Afufu said “he believed in competency and students’ communities in CRS have observed his activities in the Red Chamber, without fear of favor, the Nigerian Students are happy with him and they will give him their support to actualize his dream of becoming the next Governor.


Leading a delegation of Student Union Presidents in CRS, Chairman of the National Association of Cross River State Students WW(NACRISS), Com Ovat Peter, lauded the Distinguished Senator for his developmental strides by fixing streets lights strategically, providing grants and also empowering people through delivery of tricycles and the proposed Bursary to students. He said with this dividend of democracy, students are behind him and its an indication that he will be one of the Governors when given that mandate, students bursaries shall be paid.


Also speaking, the Southern Cross River State Students (SOCRISS) Worldwide President, Comr. Emmanuel Etim, thanked the Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey for promising to pay bursary and also assured the Senator of their absolute support in ensuring he becomes the next governor of the state.


Speaking on behalf of the Association of CRS Students Union Government Presidents, Com. Ugah James Ugah who is President, Students Union Government President, UNICAL, said the students are identifying with the developmental strides recorded by the Senator at the Red Chamber. We have heard your voice on topical issues affecting the masses, we are seeing your empowerment program for all, and the elders, you are on course“. 


Ugah thanked the Senator for the numerous grants which he has given to students and the bus which is set to arrive the campus for intra school transportation.


He reaffirmed the students support to the Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey towards the 2023 general elections.


Speaking further, the Akwa Ibom State Students Association communities through Com. Bassey Udofia also praised the Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey for his love and care to the students community and assured the Senator of the Akwa students communities in the campus and Cross River State of their unwavering support for his 2023 mandates. 


In his response, the Senator representing Cross River South, Sen. Gershom Bassey promised to send street lights to various campuses and to work with the Vice Chancellors and various heads of the institutions to which he has a good relationship with to ensure every students benefits from his representation and that his thoughts is for Development. 


Gershom also added that "As for the outcry of non payment of bursary since 2015 when Gov Imoke paid and stopped, if given the mandate, he will pay the bursary to ease the stress of Nigerian students and to bring in necessary infrastructure that will aid the students’ security and well being."


He therefore urged them to be of good behavior and take the micro politics they played in school as a stepping stone to macro politics.
