Cross River commence second round of Covid-19 Vaccination as state emerged best perfoming state

  Eneji Simon Ushie The Cross River State Government has commenced the second round of Covid-19 Vaccination exercise for Frontline workers as state received commendations as most proactive State during the first round of the exercise. Flagging off the exercise at the Ediba Primary Healthcare Centre Calabar, state Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu said Covid-19 is still much considered a pandemic with new strains emerging resulting in high mortality across the globe. She said aside maintaining laid down protocols, vaccination remains the most effective means of reducing Covid-19 related deaths and as such, the mass mobilization of eligible adults for the exercise. Dr Edu noted that the state government is commited to meet the estimated target population during the vaccination process  as it has been on the forefront since the heat of the pandemic adopting  preventive measures like the compulsory use of mask which resulted in the state recording one of the least cases in the country.

All eligible individuals who have had their first doses are expected to return to their vaccination sites or the nearest  Government Healthcare facility for the second dose of the astrazeneca vaccine. Gov. Ayade, Deputy, Attend official Launch of United Nations Heforshe Campaign in Cross River State

  In line with the advancement of Gender Equality in Nigeria, the ministry of International Development cooperation headed by Dr. Inyang Asibong, in collaboration with the United Nations Spotlight Initiative, today the 25th day of May 2021 organized the Heforshe Initiative Launch in Cross River State. The spotlight initiative is a joint EU-UN multi-year programme to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls and to realize a Nigeria where all women and girls live free from all forms of violence. It is currently being implemented in Cross River, Ebonyi, Lagos, FCT, sokoto and Adamawa States. One of the major outcomes of the spotlight is to address pervasive social norms and negative gender stereotypes with a significant male engagement component which is a key objective of the HeforShe campaign. Ayade deploys drones for medical supplies to hard to reach areas

   Cross River state government is set to deploy digital medical drones to hard to reach areas of the state. The drones will supply drugs and other medical essentials  to such areas. To this effect, the government is partnering a drone delivery company, Zipline.   The Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has disclosed that the state Governor, Senator Ben Ayade is commited towards achieving an Open Defecation Free State in the nearest possible through the provision of basic infrastructures across the state.
