CREPA DG seeks partnership with NIMASA

 



The Director General of Cross River State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr Erasmus Ekpang, has led board members of the Agency on a courtesy visit to the Management of NIMASA Calabar Port Office on Thursday in Calabar.


The team was welcomed by the Port Services Controller, Mr Umar Ibrahim Sidi, who congratulated the Director General on his recent appointment and also highlighted the functions of NIMASA.


The Director General expressed the need for both Agencies to synergize in developing, protecting and promoting a healthy environment within the state.


He further requested that both Agencies should liase together to ensure that waste from the coastline be evacuated properly so as to protect the ecosystem and prevent pollution of the on-shore and off-shore.


Responding, the Deputy Director, Auta Walbe, also added that only approved officers were allowed to board vessels but it is pertinent that while NIMASA executes their function in waste evacuation from the water ways, CREPA must also achieve keeping a clean environment around the water ways so as to enhance the beautification of the state.


Speaking also, Elder Hon. Odidi Odidi, Director of CREPA further informed the Agency that the state has well equipped laboratory which can also be a point of synergy in achieving partnership between both Agencies.


The Port Services concluded that the Agency will do all it can to support the Cross River State Environmental Protection Agency to see it grow and achieve its goals in the state.

C'River State sets aside Jan 27 for Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Cross River State Government has announced Saturday, January 27, 2024, between the hours of 7 am and 10 am as a day for environmental sanitation exercises across the state. The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except for those on essential duties.  He urged business owners and residents to partake in the cleaning and evacuation of waste around their surroundings during the hours of sanitation.  The release noted that defaulters shall be charged and tried by Cross River State Mobile Court.  Remember, a clean environment is everyone's business, together let's keep Cross River State Clean, green and serene.
