The Acting Chairman of NANNM in Cross River State, Comrade (Mrs) Josephine Bassey, has solicited for better welfare packages for nurses in the state.
Comrade Bassey, who was in the delegation with members of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council in the state who had an audience with the state Head of Service, Mrs Geraldine Ekanem, presented some urgent issues affecting nurses in the state.
Also in the meeting was the DGS of NANNM, Comrade Joe Idiege.
During the meeting, a 19 point issues were raised before the Head of Service.
The issues presented by the Acting Chairman of NANNM include:
1. Restoration of automatic transition to pension payroll on retirement suspended in November 2020.
2. Restoration of terminal promotion to deserving Civi Servants on retirement.
3. Payment of new hazard allowance for Medical and Health Workers in the state.
4. Full implementation of the minimum wage in January 2021 as per paragraph 7 of the memorandum of understanding between government and labour reached on 21st February 2020.
5. Payment of balance of 30% CONHESS.
6. Implementation of all outstanding promotions for both state and local government workers.
7. Remittance of deductions from workers salaries to beneficiaries.
Responding, the Head of Service promised to look into them, while some request were kept in view, she promised that some of them would be attended to when the resources of the state improves.
Speaking after the meeting, the Acting Chairman of NANNM maintained that her commitment to service was to ensure adequate welfare packages for nurses in the state, adding that she will continue to dialogue with the state government to see the need to implement the request raised for the benefit of all members of NANNM in the state.
