ODUKPANI LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL MARKS 100 DAYS IN OFFICE WITH COMMISSIONING OF PROJECTS




The Executive Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Justina Edem hosted indigenes and residents of Odukpani Local Government as well as well wishers to mark her 100Days in office with commissioning of projects executed by her Administration. The first 100 days in office is the period usually considered a benchmark to measure the early success of any Administration including her challenges.  So far, her administration has shown genuine commitment towards tackling the various problem and repositioning of Odukpani Local Government for positive growth.

As a product of grassroots leadership, she has since assumption of Office hit the ground running by embarking on various developmental projects and programmes. Some of her achievements include;


Routine health checks for staff and free medical check for residence of the Council.


Equipping of offices with furniture’s and stationeries.


Monthly solemn Assembly to draw Gods presence to Odukpani Local Government Council.


Initiation and sponsorship of Local Government staff monthly training.

Staff welfare.


Partnership with conditional cash transfer


Partnership with National Population Commission.


Partnership with Cross River State Border Commission


Initiation of monthly sanitation in the Local Government Council which has restored the clean and green environment of the council.


Coronavirus awareness sensitization.


Distribution of free facemask and hand sanitizers.


Sponsored water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for effective mapping of needs assessment of Odukpani Local Government Area.


Free medical check-up for all.


Renovation and furnishing of the political block.


Renovation and furnishing of legislative block.


Renovation, expansion, and furnishing of staff canteen.


Renovation of security post and furnishing.


Construction of toilet for the security block.


Provision of security gate at the Local Government Headquarters.


Construction of drainages within the Council secretariat


Provision of new generating plant to the political block.


Provision of over two thousand bags of rice, beans, spice, cartons of indomie noodles, tissue, peppers, bags of salt as palliatives to the thirteen wards of Odukpani Local Government Council.


Security:

Nothing thrives in any environment of crisis, and due to Hon. Mrs. Justina Edem total commitment towards security, indigenes of various communities that were plagued with communal crisis are gradually breathing peace as efforts are geared towards the total restoration of Peace in all communities that were hitherto affected. This she has achieved through:


Mobilization of Nigerian Police Force to war 

prone areas Okurikang-Ediong-Obomitiat-

Mbiabo-Eki axis.


Regular monthly security meeting with all security formations in the LGA.


Regular interface with the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Security and Departmental Security Officer.


Engagement of Peace Corps and vigilante within the Local Government Area.


Engagement of some youths in vocational training which is currently ongoing.


Regular meeting with chiefs, youths, women leaders of conflict prone areas.


These methods have so far raised hope in the minds of Odukpani residents.


Regular interface with the staff of Administrative, political, and legislative blocks.


Regular meeting with Councilors’ and supervisors.


Regular interface with Associations operating within the Local Government Area.


Provisions of new sporting equipments to the Sports Department and landscaping of the football field.


As part of activities marking her 100 days in office, a novelty football match between Council Staff and the Political Staff was played at the newly remodeled Council Fiotbal pitch. The Football match was witnessed by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr, Commissioner for Transport, Hon Oqua Edet Oqua, Mr Udiba Effiong Udiba, Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong, Director General of Cross River State Ranch Resort, Hon Bobby Effiom Ekpenyong, Hon. Enefiok Inyang the Vice Chairman of Council, and all Political Staff from the Local Government Council.

In a chat with the press shortly after commissioning of the projects, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr expressed his gratitude to the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Justina Edem for the projects. He eulogized the Council Boss for carrying along everyone in her programmes and prayed for God’s blessings on her and the team at the Council headquarters.


The Executive Chairman, Mrs.  Justina Edem used the occasion to pledge total focus in steering the ship of governance and asked for the cooperation of all in order to achieve positive development in Odukpani.


“My gratitude remains with the Odukpani people who gave me the mandate to serve, The Leader of my Party His Excellency Prof Ben Ayade, and all stakeholders of my party for the platform they gave to me and to all Security agencies who are collaborating with me to bring peace to Odukpani. I will ensure I put an end to the lingering insecurity in some part of the local government. I have shown working and I promise you that Odukpani would be Peaceful. My administration stands for development, peace and unity,” the Chairman said.


In her goodwill message, the DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Janet Ekpenyong said since Mrs. Justina Edem was sworn in, she has shown series of sterling achievements in office within her 100days in Office. As part of her sterling performances in office, Dr Ekpenyong said the council boss has since assumption of office came up with Medical outreach for the residents of Odukpani. Her response to the Covid-19 outbreak has given the council hope to overcome the deadly virus and reposition primary healthcare in Odukpani.


The DG Obudu Ranch Resort, Hon Bobby Effiom Ekpenyong called on the Council Chairman to summon a Security Summit were all the gladiators in the warring communities will gather for effective ways of ending the crisis. He commended the Chairman for her visionary projects and determination to lift the face of Odukpani LGA.


Similarly, Director General Director General of Bureau of Public Private Partnership, Cross River State, Mr Udiba Effiong Udiba said it was important for the chairmen to replicate the achievements of the governor Senator Prof Ben Ayade in their respective councils and as such Odukpani Local Government Area has set a standard for others. He assured the Chairman of his unflinching support to her administration to achieve more while appreciating her effort in the first 100 days.


The highlight of the occasion was commissioning of Projects and Novelty Football Match which was played between Political Staff and Administrative Staff but ended One Goal in favour of Political Staff.
