The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has been honoured with the Pan-African Leadership Award.
The award was conferred on him by the African Students Union Parliament during a visit to his office at the Assembly Complex.
Speaking on behalf of the African Students Union Parliament, Comrade Ozim Temple Stated that Williams was selected for the award for his immense contributions and outstanding strides in the legislature adding that the award was to propel him to do more.
"The African Students Union parliament has reckoned you as a man of courage whose ebullient and vivacious nature fused with your remarkable administrative acumen is evident in any office entrusted to you".
He described Williams as a, "detribalised Nigerian, lover of students/Youths, dedicated Leader, Patriot and nation builder "who has distinguished himself by sponsoring people- oriented bills and urged him to continue the good work.
Responding, the Speaker thanked the African Students Union Parliament for the honour and reiterated his commitment to effective legislation in Cross River State.
He urged youths to shun illegal and criminal activities, including drug abuse and other social vices, as they are inimical to progress.
